Existential Process Group

Existential Process Group

A playground for deepening relationships without losing yourself

Are you:

  • Doing okay, but sensing something’s missing?
  • Considering therapy, but finding it out of reach?
  • Longing for deeper connection—with yourself and others?
  • Wanting to grow personally and professionally, through real relationships?
  • Curious about how others experience you—and how you impact them?

We’re launching our first Existential Process Group for 2025—a space to explore the question: How do we come to know ourselves through others? So often, we turn inward to understand who we are—through journaling, thinking, reflecting. But something vital gets missed when we leave out our relationships. In this group, we turn toward the rich, uncomfortable, revealing terrain of human connection. Not to fix or please—but to be seen, to see, and to find out who we are when we’re not alone.

FAQ:

What is an Existential Process Group?

An Existential Process Group is a small, therapist-facilitated space where people sit in a circle to explore what it means to be themselves—through honest, real-time interactions with others. By putting all our thoughts and feelings into words, you learnt to notice how you relate, protect, connect, and impact those around you—not just by talking about your life, but by living it in the room.

Rooted in existential philosophy, the group invites reflection on meaning, freedom, identity, and responsibility—while asking: How can I be with others without losing myself? It’s a space to practice authenticity, where your individuality is not only welcomed but essential.

How Does an Existential Process Group Work?

In an Existential Process Group, we move past small talk to connect through what’s real and alive. You’re encouraged to put words to your experience—even things we rarely name: the urge to leave, the wish to be hugged, a glance that lingers.

We don’t just talk about life; we live it in the room—observing how we show up, relate, and resist. It’s a space to try new ways of being that might feel too risky elsewhere. Over time, you’ll begin to notice your patterns and discover more authentic ways of being with others.

Do I Have to Choose Between Group and Individual Therapy?

Group Therapy is different, but no less powerful than, individual therapy. Individual therapy helps you explore your inner world, uncover patterns, and build a deeper relationship with yourself. Existential Process Group brings those insights into contact with others, where you can explore how you show up, connect, and impact the people around you. Both are effective, and together, they can deepen your growth.

How Is an Existential Process Group Different from Support or Self-Help Groups?

An Existential Process Group is not about offering advice or fixing problems.
While other groups may focus on shared experiences, support, or coping with specific challenges, this group focuses on the live dynamics of relationship. You are given a space to meet each other where we are, and make space for the complexity of being human. Here, change comes from honest encounter, presence, and reflection.

Will There Be People With Similar Concerns as Me?

Great question. Sameness can feel comforting, but it’s often in difference that we’re most challenged to grow. You might find common ground with others—or meet someone whose way of being unsettles and expands you. The group thrives on a diversity of lives; some stories will resonate more than others, but all offer a chance to reflect, relate, and grow.

What If I’m Uncomfortable With Others in My Group?

It’s human to feel uneasy about joining a group. You might wonder: Will I be heard? What if I don’t like someone? Do I have to share everything? An Existential Process Group invites you into these very questions—not to resolve them quickly, but to sit with them honestly and more comfortably.

It’s in this discomfort that we allow something deeper to emerge: clarity, presence, even connection. You are never expected to reveal more than you’re ready to—but you may find, over time, that you want to.
